How to play

Found your kingdom

Name your kingdom, pick its color, then click anywhere on land to found it. For the first 30 seconds nobody can attack you, so grab as much empty land as you can.

Expand and attack

Click land to send your army there: empty land is quick to take, rival kingdoms fight back. The Send slider sets how much of your army goes into each attack. Your army regrows over time, faster with more land and more villages.

Build

Spend gold on buildings, placed on your own land:

Defend

Land you've held for a while digs in and gets harder to take. Fortify a stretch of your land to make it twice as hard to take for a while. Captured buildings work at half strength until the land settles.

Alliances

Right-click a kingdom (or press and hold on a touch screen) to see it and propose an alliance. Allies don't attack each other and trade by sea, but alliances end when one side gets too strong, and some rivals betray their friends.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kastrava free?

Yes. Kastrava is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account. A full version is coming to Steam with Huge, Gigantic and Colossal maps, island maps, up to 400 rival kingdoms, the full flag designer, and no ads.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, Kastrava runs in any modern browser, including phones and tablets, but it plays best on a computer with a mouse and a big screen. On touch screens, drag to move the map, pinch to zoom, and press and hold a kingdom to see it or make an alliance.

Is there multiplayer?

Not yet. For now you play against computer kingdoms, each with its own personality. Multiplayer is planned for after launch.

Is my game saved?

Yes. Your game, kingdom name and settings are saved in your browser on your device, so you can close the tab and continue later. Clearing your browser data removes them.
